Fan Gets Beat By Police at PNC Park For Being a Moron

As you have no doubt seen by now, this Rhodes Scholar was beaten and arrested on Saturday night at PNC Park when the Buccos took on the Colorado Rockies.  More on the statement from Pittsburgh police after the jump...

As you can clearly see from the video, Mr. USA is clearly intoxicated and unruly.  Not only does he completely ignore the police officer's orders but he also tries to instigate a fight after coming down the bleacher steps.

Usually, when a drunk fan is out of line, PNC Park security will remove him and that's the end of it.  You know this guy was out of line if the police were brought it to ensure that he left.  Forget all that nonsense about "not being allowed to have fun at games anymore" because the police don't get called for a couple curse words.  This guy must have been a pain in the ass for a long time.

Secondly, people being all outraged over the officer's actions are ridiculous.  The officer is not trying to "beat him in the head" as some have suggested, he is trying to land the baton on a pressure point on the guy's neck.  Any police officer will tell you that is the quickest way to get a guy on the ground.

Also, the guy is clearly ignoring the officer's orders and the cop has to think not only of his safety but the safety of hundreds of people around him.  Engaging this idiot in hand-to-hand combat is clearly not an option because what happens if this moron grabs the officer's gun?

There is obviously more to the story than what is shown here and the Pittsburgh Police are going to issue a statement this afternoon.  Even though the actions of the officers in this video seem harsh, you have to remember that they are only thinking of the safety of the public and themselves.  There has been far too much violence against police officers recently and I'm sure that was in the backs of their minds.

There is a lesson in all this:  Listen to the police and don't be a moron.
