I've been getting some emails asking me why I haven't been posting much recently and, to be honest, it's because there's nothing much to be talking about.

James Neal Finally Scores, Puts the Penguins Up 3-1

Game 3 was pure heart attack city.  There's really no other way to describe it.  The Penguins blew a 2-0 lead and Tampa seemed to have all the momentum heading in overtime.

Penguins vs. Lightning Game 3: Steve Downie Hits Lovejoy, Kunitz Almost Ends Gagne

The Penguins survived a rough Game 3 last night, winning 3-2 in Tampa Bay.  Marc-Andre Fleury again stood tall and a timely goal from Tyler Kennedy offset a Marty St. Louis power play goal which tied it at 2.

Of course, that was not the only story last night as Steve Downie again proved why he's a tool and Chris Kunitz finds himself in some hot water.  Unfortunately, I have a feeling that these two hits are going to overshadow what has been a great series so far.

Disco Dan Bylsma Gets An Extension

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed head coach Dan Bylsma to a three year extension.  Disco Dan currently holds a 104-52-19 record and the highest winning percentage in franchise history  since taking over in 2009.

His work this season with a seriously depleted roster thanks to injury is should not be overlooked.  He has essentially taken an AHL team (with a great goaltender) and has them looking at home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

The Top 10 Worst Pittsburgh Penguins of the Last 10 Years

The Pittsburgh Penguins are only two seasons removed from their last Stanley Cup championship, have the greatest player in the world as their center, and have a supporting cast of Jordan Staal, Marc-Andre Fleury, and Evgeni Malkin.   Along with their new-found success has come a new generation of Penguins fans who don't know of the hardships long-time Pens fans suffered during the "dark ages" (2002-2006).

Well, fear not, because we are going to take a look at the worst Penguins since 2001...



#10 - Dan Focht  (D, 2002-2004)

 

While most Penguins fans have blocked this defenseman out of their minds, a simple mention of his name is enough to send chills down their spine.  Notoriously bad with the puck, Focht made every single fan in the arena nervous when he handled the vulcanized rubber.  His lack of speed and positioning more than contributed to his -23 rating during 52 games with the club in 03-04.  Danny wasn't much of a passer, or hitter, or shooter, or shot blocker, but hey...I bet he tried really hard.
