Pens Beat Flyers 2-1: Mike Richards is Still a Joke

The Penguins defeated the Flyers 2-1 last night in Philly, keeping the Penguins within shouting distance of 1st place overall in the East.  I'm going to be honest with you:  After watching the game, I'm sure as hell not impressed with the Flyers.

Sergei Bobrovsky basically kept the Flyers in the game but who knows what the score would have been if the Pens had all their players back from injury.  Bobrovsky is basically this year's Varlamov, the team's fans proclaim him the next coming of Patrick Roy until he peters out in the playoffs under the weight of pressure and a different type of hockey.

The Pens, on the other hand, showed some fire and tenacity that has to be admired.  After losing Dustin Jeffery to injury yet again, I expected them to fold like a house of cards in a Greensburg tornado....didn't happen.

The Pens came out and basically dominated the third period with the Flyers looking like they'd rather be home in their trailers than playing hockey.  After surviving a couple close calls late in the 3rd and OT, Alex Kovalev undressed Bobrovsky with a sick move in the shootout and Chris Kunitz closed the door to send the Flyers faithful back to their Phoenix Online classes.

Special shoutout to those Philly fans who took it upon themselves to still chant "Crosby sucks" when prompted by the house organ, even though he wasn't even in the building.  It really takes a special kind of human being to try to mock a person who is hundreds of miles away and thinks you're a joke.

The Flyers are the team to beat in the East?  Yeah right.
